Among the most popular pieces of football memorabilia on the market are NFL game worn jerseys. While fans like to wear replica jerseys, owning something that was actually worn in an NFL game is something special.
Recently, JO Sports completed several business deals with NFL teams that gave the company the exclusive right to buy directly from the clubs and then sell them on the open market. It likely wasn't cheap, but in the long run, it's a sweet coup for this Las Vegas based newcomer to the hobby.
While older NFL game jerseys have been seen in various auctions (and are still available), the collector who likes to chase modern jerseys now have a little more piece of mind in that JO Sports' deals are exclusive. The paperwork is real and the jerseys will be shipped as received--that is, with grass stains, rips, bloodstains and sweat still attached! It sounds a little goofy, but it's what serious collectors really desire--a new level of security and authenticity. Such marks also make it easier to photo match those jerseys.
NFL game worn jerseys are fairly plentiful for some teams, thanks to the JO Sports deal and that means that unless you're buying a star's jersey, you can often find an authentic team jersey for $400-1,000. That's not much more than what you'll pay for a nice, full-size replica! Many throwback jerseys obtained by JO and offered on the open market are truly one of a kind. However, we like the lesser known players' jerseys for their price level--and you never know when an "unknown" will break through and become an all-pro.
